Professor Voelpel is concerned with the issues of strategy, organization, innovation, leadership, team effectiveness, knowledge- and change management, demographic change and diversity management. With his regular publications in books and scientific journals he exerts a lasting influence on these disciplines. He gives lectures and counsel to top executives of numerous DAX-listed companies as well as to public service broadcaster like ARD and ZDF or Deutschlandradio. With numerous newspaper reports in FAZ, SZ, and Zeit and regular performances in radio, such as Deutschlandradio, NDR and WDR, and television, like Münchner Runde and Mittagsmagazin, he promotes an open transfer of knowledge from science to society.
In 2003 Professor Voelpel founded the WISE (Wisdom – Innovation – Strategy – Energy) Group, which he heads as president until the present day. In 2007 followed the establishment of the WDN – WISE Demographis Network, which he has headed as director since then. Professor Voelpel is faculty member of the Bremen International School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) since its creation, a graduation college funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). Moreover, he is initiator of the Double Doctoral Program between Jacobs University and VU University Amsterdam.
